Feeling hopeless in your Singleness?

Have you prayed, trusted, and waited so long for a husband and nothing seems to be happening? Maybe you’ve been crying… no wailing, and your chest feels a deep sorrow because your prayer for a husband is unanswered.

Same sister, same.

I just want to encourage you with a few things today (well not really me… my own words can only do so much.) I pray that the Holy Spirit comforts and strengthens you. It would be an honor to just be His vessel to reach you through this post.

GOD HAS HEARD EVERY PRAYER AND SEEN EVERY TEAR

This is sometimes hard to believe when you don’t see anything happening. But let me ask you, do you believe that the Bible is true? I assume yes, so let me remind you of what the truth is:

  • Psalm 34:15 “the eyes of the LORD watch over those who do right; his ears are open to their cries for help.”
  • Psalm 56:8 “You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.”

When you see another friend get into a relationship, when you yourself have barely ever talked to the male species, and cry out to God on your drive home or in your closet… I want you to be 110% sure that God hears you and sees you where you are. And just because you don’t have a man, doesn’t mean He isn’t going to answer, it just usually doesn’t happen in your timeline.

GOD IS CLOSER THAN YOU THINK

I don’t know why you’re still single (idk why I am either), all I know is that God is with you in this hard time and He is really good… yes, even now.

If you had a daughter who fell off her bike and hurt her leg, would you just laugh and watch your daughter suffer in pain as she cried out to you for help? Absolutely not! You would run to her side, kiss her, clean up her wound, and give her exactly what she needs in that moment. Why is it hard to believe that our God, who is MUCH more loving and caring, would do the same when we are hurt and full of sorrow? God sees when our hearts hurt and long for a husband, and He wants to help us and comfort us. Draw near to Him and ask Him to give you what you need in this season (hope, comfort, encouragement, strength, courage, help with flirting lol… literally anything. HE GAVE US HIS HOLY SPIRIT TO HELP US)

  • Psalm 34:18 “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; He rescues those whose spirits are crushed.”
  • James 4:8 “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.”
  • Psalm 23:4 “Even though I walk through the darkest valley,I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”
  • Isaiah 30:18 “Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you, and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you. For the Lord is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him.”

I can testify that it was in my hardest moments where God felt the nearest. What does it look like to draw near to someone? Maybe walking up to your friend and whispering in her ear. Or spending time in your room with your sister alone. So it is with God, drawing near can look like a prayer, writing in your journal, talking to Him in your closet or car, or listening to His words in the Bible. Whatever that may look like for you, He PROMISES to draw near to you. In fact, He never left you to begin with. Us drawing near to Him is just a way for us to redirect our focus and attention on HIM.

YOUR SINGLENESS IS GOOD

I know what you’re thinking… “NO, IT ABSOLUTELY AIN’T GOOD!!!” And yes, it actually may not FEEL good at all (I FEEL the same way), but to God, this is exactly where He wants you to be for now. It’s hard to accept, but it’s true. God is a good Father, and a good father does not withold good things from his children. You know what a good father WOULD withhold from the children he loves? Things that could hurt them, things that aren’t necessary, things at the wrong time. For example, a knife can be used as a good thing to cut an apple, but giving it to a 3 year old would not be a good thing.

Remember that He is good and would not withhold good things from you. There is a reason for your singleness, whether that’s to work on your (or your husband’s) character so that your marriage will be more blessed, to align your paths to meet, or whatever it may be.

  • Psalm 84:11 “The Lord will withhold no good thing from those who do what is right.”
  • Romans 8:28 “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”
  • Matthew 7:11 “So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.”

TRUST GOD’S TIMELINE

Maybe you thought you’d be married by 18 like I did. You had your life planned out. I’m sure you’ve already realized that your plans are not the same as the Lord’s, and do not happen as quickly as you’d like. Rememeber that one thing you really prayed for and wanted and it took foreeever? And then God answered, and it was so much better than what you prayed for, and you were just so beyond thankful? I believe God may be doing the same about your prayer for a husband! He’s like, “trust Me, I am a good Dad, and I want to bless you. I want you to be so happy and to know that I did it, and your heart will overflow with praise and thanksgiving to Me, because it will be so good!” Try to get rid of any timelines. Bring your requests before God, let His peace sustain you in this time of waiting, and let HIM work it ALL out in HIS good timing.

  • Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.”
  • Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

I hope this served as an encouragement to you! Please leave any comments and requests for future posts. I pray you see the goodness of the Lord while on this earth and be blessed with an amazing Godly husband soon!
